NIA Assumes Control of Pahalgam Attack Case

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially taken over the investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack that resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, including a citizen from Nepal.

Previously, the Jammu and Kashmir Police were handling the case, but the NIA's involvement comes following directives from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, as stated in a recent press release.

Since April 23, the NIA teams have been stationed at the site of the attack, which occurred just a day earlier.

The agency has ramped up efforts to gather evidence related to the incident.

Under the supervision of an Inspector General (IG), a Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and a Superintendent of Police (SP) from the anti-terror unit, investigators are interviewing witnesses who witnessed the tragic events unfold in the serene Baisaran valley.

Witnesses are being meticulously questioned to reconstruct the timeline of one of the most devastating terror incidents in Kashmir's history, according to the media release.

Investigators are closely examining the entry and exit routes for clues regarding the terrorists' methods.

With the assistance of forensic experts, the teams are thoroughly scouring the area for evidence to uncover the conspiracy behind this shocking attack.

On April 22, a group of armed terrorists targeted tourists in the Baisaran meadows, a well-known tourist spot in Pahalgam.

The attack resulted in the tragic loss of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen. Eyewitness accounts reveal that the attackers approached victims, inquired about their religion, and opened fire at close range. Among the deceased, 25 were Hindu men who were specifically targeted based on their faith.

In response, a large-scale operation has been initiated in the valley to apprehend the perpetrators. Several suspects have been detained, and the residences of ten identified terrorists have been destroyed.
